Midstays
The Midstays Houses give women who are not yet ready for independent accommodation an opportunity to develop their confidence and enhance their life skills before they are ready to move into the community.
Support will be continued until the woman feels she is able to relocate into a permanent tenancy. Referrals will be accepted from external agencies who will be required to complete a referral form.
We will accept referrals from women who may need time and support before taking up their own tenancy and who will benefit from / and enjoy - living in a shared accomodation environment.
Accommodation Services
The Midstay Houses
provide safe, secure and supported accommodation to single women.
The scheme consists of two houses accommodating three and four women
respectively. There are rooms with individual cooking facilities,
whilst the main kitchen, bathrooms and laundry facilities are shared
in both houses.
Equality and Diversity:
The scheme is committed
to delivering its services based on meeting the needs of individual
residents. The houses promote and celebrate diversity of culture,
age, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation and disability.
Support Services
We aim to work with the
women to develop an individual support package tailored to their
needs, which will be regularly reviewed. We will work with women to
provide help, advice and support in the following areas:
· Welfare
benefits
· Training,
education and/or employment
· Healthcare
· Budgeting
skills
· Tenancy
issues
There is a Support
Worker available during office hours, who offers support to the
women. Her role is to work across the two Midstay houses.
Moving On:
When the
woman is ready to leave, assistance will be given in finding
suitable and appropriate move-on accommodation.
Residents are offered help in completing housing application forms,
liaison with housing providers, visits to prospective tenancies and
applying for furniture grants
