Management Committee
Fairweather is run by a voluntary management
committee and is staffed by paid workers. The Management committee
are deemed to be the persons “in management and control” of the
charity.
It is important to be clear about the role of the Management
Committee in relation the organisation. The Management Committee of
a charity is often referred to as its “governing body” and this
highlights that their key role is governance.
Governance involves taking a strategic “high level” view of the
organisation with the Director and does not become overly involved
in day to day management issues which are the responsibility of the
paid
managers.
The Management Committee ensure that:
-
Fairweather has a clear purpose as defined in its Constitution and that the Constitution is regularly reviewed to ensure its continuing relevance
-
Remains true to the purpose defined in the Constitution.
-
Has current strategy and policy documents, which show how it will achieve its purpose and is accountable to its stakeholders for the delivery of services.
-
Has sound arrangements in place to ensure compliance with legislation
