Fairweather is a small dynamic registered charity which is currently working  in an exciting climate of development and change. We are a dedicated and passionate group who wish to make a real difference to vulnerable people in Bradford.

We provide support and accommodation to adults and children.  We also provide community support to men and women, enabling people to participate in society in ways they wish to.  We are a value based organisation and hold the people who use our services at the heart of all we undertake.  We work as equal partners with our service users and are committed to genuine service user involvement.

We value the people who work for and with Fairweather, recognising that people are our most valuable resource to achieve our objectives.  We work in partnership with other organisations in the statutory, voluntary and private sector.

Currently, Fairweather’s primary work is in relation to housing, resettlement and support of women and children, who are in need of housing, security, and emotional / psychological support. We provide accommodation and support for single homeless women, women with mental health problems and a direct access scheme providing supported accommodation for women and children with complex needs. We also provide floating support for women, men and families in the community.

The accommodation schemes we offer cater for women and their children who are vulnerable for a variety of reasons, including homelessness, domestic violence, and mental health problems. At one scheme we run a playroom and have workers available for the children.

Fairweather is run by a voluntary management committee and is staffed by paid workers.  Since the first scheme opened in 1982 providing emergency, short stay accommodation in temporary premises, we now have four properties and are able to work with women and children once they have been resettled into the community.

Our philosophy is to provide help, support and advice to vulnerable women and their children in order to enable them to make choices and develop coping strategies to deal positively with difficult life situations, which can make people vulnerable.  We attempt to heighten self-esteem and hopefully help to bring fun into the lives of the people we work with and help them to create happy memories.

We are looking to develop our activities in other areas of support to different client groups, but also in other areas such as training.  We are determined to excel in all areas of activity and feel passionate about equality, empowerment and enterprise
